WHAT ARE THE MOST RELIABLE FOREX SIGNALS?

WHAT ARE THE MOST RELIABLE FOREX SIGNALS?

The best way to discover the most reliable Forex signals

A blog about Forex signals, the value of utilizing signals, the risks involved, and an excellent method of generating your own tailor-made Forex signals with limited effort.

What are Forex signals?

One thing all trading experts can agree on is that Forex signals mean BIG BUSINESS. Most people still want to get rich with limited effort, and the initiators behind Forex signals benefit from this search for easy money. If you think you can get rich by blindly following someone’s advice, you are about to lose a lot of money. Your journey to wealth will end before it even begins.

A trading signal is no more than a trading recommendation. Most trading recommendations are based on a trend or a “hunch”, but whether a trend can be extrapolated depends on many factors. Thus, a common disclaimer in the financial sector is: results from the past never give any guarantee for the future.

So, Forex signals are worthless?

Not at all! Forex signals are vital tools for any prediction; the best trade ideas come from signals. However, you have to keep in mind that a Forex signal is no more than a recommendation. Whether or not you follow the recommendation, common sense and technical analysis should always be applied to your trades.

When a certain currency pair is increasing quickly in the morning, you may expect that it will continue to rise all day. Speculation from other traders may corroborate your expectation. What if at noon, a country’s central bank is making an announcement that will substantially diminish the price of the currency pair? Forex signals can only be used as guidance to inform a hunch or your search for trading opportunities.

Forex signals by professional traders with a proven track record

When we are talking about trading signals, we are referring to trade recommendations that are issued by a professional trader, a trader robot, or a trading program. Forex trading signals typically provide you with an opening price, opening time, the take profit target (BUY), and the stop loss target (SELL).

There are several Forex signals services that have very good reviews, but, of course, these trading signals are used by Forex traders that analyse the market themselves, and do not blindly follow the market signals provided.

Several providers of Forex signals have different reviews. Do your research before you compromise yourself to a FX signal subscription. Signal scams are prevalent, and you may be buying worthless information based on incorrect or outdated information.

Forex signals scams

As you can probably imagine, signals are not an exact science, so it is very difficult to distinguish a scammer and it is nearly impossible to prove someone is scamming. To give bad advice is not illegal after all, and a scammer’s alibi is always “good intentions”. However, if you base your buying and selling strategy on this bad advice, you will lose the money that you paid for the signals, as well as the money you traded following the scam signal.

If companies offer you great results without any verifiable proof, you can usually assume it is a scam, and you should be very careful. Free Forex signals are also available, but you can lose a lot of money when you trade on false information, even if this information is for free.

There are also Forex signal providers who offer to trade your money. You should never get involved with these businesses, as you are most likely going to lose all your money.

As the Forex market is less regulated than other trading markets, and the enormous size of it attracts a lot of crooked individuals, you should always remain suspicious. When something appears too good to be true, it almost certainly is too good to be true. If you have any doubts about a company, regardless of how attractive the offer might be, avoid wasting your money and do not get involved.

What are the costs of Forex signals?

There are many free Forex signals out there, but of course, all of these providers try to upsell you something, as they have to earn their money somehow. Never expect quality when it is for free!

The paid ones instead can offer you great value, if you use the right signal services the right way. Costs can vary from below 100 dollars to thousands of dollars per year. This might seem like a lot of money, but when you consider that you could make a five or six-figure income with Forex trading, a thousand dollars is a minor investment – if you use signals the correct way.

What are the best Forex signals for starters?

Your analytical skills are the best signals in seeking trade opportunities! We always recommend beginners get to know the market. To understand how Forex trading works, read the news and drown yourself in as much as information you need to understand market patterns. Identify which economic factors have the greatest influence on rates. It is a akill that cannot be learned by reading, but by doing. Only in this way can you discover your best trading strategy.

Of course, trainings can help you to understand trading strategies and how to approach the FX market. When you have selected your focus area, you must understand the major factors that influence the Forex market. Once you understand the FX market, it will be much easier to interpret Forex signals. You will be able to distinguish which Forex signal sellers are offering garbage, and which ones sell valuable information.

Over time, you also learn how to interpret valuable information. This skill will save you a lot of time when you are able to see possible trading opportunities more quickly. With your newfound analytical skills, you can distinguish if the trading opportunity applies to your portfolio.

How do I create my own Forex signals?

As a Forex trader, you can use an expert’s opinion to advise you on where to look for opportunities, but an experienced Forex trader creates their own Forex signals. Listed below, you can find the three steps to designing your own Forex Signals System.

Step 1: Identify the key indicators that enlighten a certain trend.

The biggest challenge in Forex trading is identifying trends as soon as possible. The longer a trend continues, the smaller your possible profit becomes. A greater number of traders also see the trend and influence the rate with their trading actions.

The most successful traders use moving averages to distinguish real trends from false trends. Most traders use both a real-time slow-moving average and a real-time fast-moving average to define new trends.

Typically, when the fast-moving average shows a turning point, the slow-moving average is used to confirm the trend a while later; both are good indicators a new trend is emerging. Of course, as we must continue to emphasize, trends are never a guarantee, just a recommendation.

Step 2: Define the indicators that help you to confirm the trend.

You can see a trend in your charts, but how can you confirm it is actually a new trend, and not just a glitch, after which the old trend will continue? You need to use other sources to confirm the trend. This is often completed by using third party indicators. When you are thorough, you do not get caught following false trends and betting on the wrong horses.

Step 3: Set your risk, entry level, and exit level

Next, it is time to set your risk level and the levels of entry and exit. By honoring these numbers, you make your trade purely rational, rather that emotional. You define how much you are willing to lose on a trade and the number of pips you consider a successful trade.

Do not get overwhelmed by your increasing profits. The trends will turn around at a certain moment, and you want to get out of the trade before that moment occurs. If you have done your job analyzing the trend, you will know what to expect and when you have to settle the deal. By doing the work before trading, you maximize your profit.

Having said this, it is most important to write down all your rules and conclusions. You will know what rules to follow, and what you need to learn. In this way, you can improve your skills and generate the most reliable Forex signals. Do not forget, you are the only person who is able to create the most reliable Forex signals for yourself.

PROP TRADING FIRMS

What are the advantages of prop trading firms?

Excellent Forex trading advantages without requiring you to risk your own capital

Forex trading is all about leveraging capital. Earnings in Forex trading are expressed in pips (percentage in point), meaning your profit is calculated in values of £0.0001. Therefore, you are unable to make tons of money if you are not making huge deals. Of course, you can use your leverage to achieve much greater exposure, but you still require substantial amounts of capital to make deals that matter.

This capital can be provided by a prop trading firm!

Greater exposure and larger capital deals are also accompanied by some downsides. Firstly, you cannot use your capital for other means while simultaneously trading it within Forex. Secondly, you are risking your own money, and believe us, there is always risk involved. Third, and possibly most importantly, most people do not easily gain enough substantial capital to make a difference in Forex trading.

What are prop trading firms?

Proprietary trading refers to the operations of a financial firm that provides capital to Forex traders. Rather than earning a commission based on trades, a prop trading firm makes an agreement to split profits with the trader. Most often, a prop trading firm proposes a 50% split.

The Forex trader offers their skills and time, while the proprietary firms provide the capital and bear the entire risk of capital loss. The FX trader earns 50% of the profits for their efforts, while the prop trader firm earns the other 50% while running the risk of losing the provided capital.

Proprietary trading, therefore, is one of the most profitable trading operations for both the trader and the firm. It is a joint agreement that can also be an advantageous collaboration.

Providing trading capital does require conditions

Of course, a prop trading firm needs to turn a profit, and is looking for FX traders with the right skills to find beneficial trading opportunities. Therefore, a prop trading firm must select the most skilled traders to successfully complete Forex trades. Proprietary trading firms use three different methods, or a combination of the three, to limit their risks:

1. Initial trading exam

Many prop trading firms will execute an initial trading exam for all Forex traders who wish to join the prop trading firm. In this way, a trader can prove their Forex trading knowledge. This exam keeps out the traders that have just begun trading or are inexperienced with trading theory.

Although an initial trading exam at a prop trading firm can be highly effective, many excellent traders are left out because of this initial exam. Some traders cannot perform under the pressure of a structured assessment, or do not speak the language well enough when tested. Above all, Forex trading is a profession of praxis and experience. Many experienced Forex traders have learned their profession on the trading floor, rather than from books.

Therefore, the initial trading exam limits the risks for many prop trading firms but filters out potential opportunities to fund many excellent traders.

2. Demo account

A demo account is also a commonly used method among prop trading firms to assess which traders are up for the job. With a demo account, a realistic trading market is simulated based on actual historic data. It gives a trader the opportunity to show how they perform based on realistic market conditions. When a trader reaches their virtual profit target, they qualify for the job and are provided with a real trading account.

A trader is commonly someone competitive and eager to earn money. An artificial demo account does not provide an environment with accurate, high-stakes trading conditions. Most of the time, results are achieved under pressure and with increased amounts of adrenaline, while one’s trading capabilities are pushed to the limits. Therefore, trading on a demo account often feels like a training session without the risk of consequences.

A demo account can limit the risks for a prop trading firm dramatically, as the firm is able to select the candidates who achieve positive results on their demo account. However, they do not know how candidates will perform under actual stress, trading with a million pounds sterling of real money. The firm may be ruling out excellent traders that just need the adrenaline of the trading floor to perform.

3. Trading parameters

Another method of funding money by prop trading firms is by establishing monetary parameters while traders are participating in the real market. The most three common parameters are:

Profit target

A profit target is set, often in combination within a certain time frame. The profit target is usually dependent on the trading style. Aggressive traders often have a higher profit target compared to low-risk traders. When this profit target is not met, the Forex funded account is terminated by the prop trading firm, as the Forex trader has not been able to reach substantial profits for itself and the prop trading firm.

Stop out level

A stop out level is an important measure to limit the risks for prop trading firms. When a certain amount of capital is lost, often expressed as a percentage of the total capital or a fixed amount of capital, then the Forex funded account is closed. Often, aggressive traders are allowed to suffer larger losses, as more aggressive trading strategies can yield greater losses.

Trading Consistency

Prop trading firms will also analyse the consistency of one’s trading style. Most of the time, a trader is not allowed to switch trading styles as it might involve unacceptable risks. Inconsistencies do not often have immediate consequences but might result in well-meant advice on developing a more consistent trading strategy. More consistent trading strategies have proven to be more effective and profitable compared to inconsistent trading strategies.

Besides, prop trading firms typically also put conditions like a maximum amount of leverage (1:5 or 1:10). Also, a prop trading firm might limit the possible currency pairs that are traded. More exotic currency pairs are also accompanied by more risks and are therefore excluded from trading.

Forex funded account

As prop trading firms remain the owner of the capital, they commonly set up a Forex funded account on a trading platform of the broker of their choice. Their FX traders receive access to make the deals that they foresee to be profitable. The proprietary firm remains in control of the account and can control their own capital.

As a Forex trader, you are ensured guaranteed capital if you perform within the set parameters. Prop trading firms know like no other that Forex trading involves risk. Therefore, you are allowed to lose money with some trades without consequence. However, you will have to show that you are following a profitable strategy in order to keep their trust in you with their capital.

Access to knowledge of a prop trading firm

Often, Forex prop trading companies offer access to enormous resources regarding Forex trading. Not only do you have access to effective strategies and Forex trading courses, you can also consult senior experienced traders with a lot of experience in Forex trading.

You can always learn a lot from successful traders as they can always advise you if your trading strategy will be effective and give you insight in how to make more profitable deals. When you are part of a Forex trading community you are not alone and can always find valuable insights into the market.

The advantages of prop trading firms

As an individual Forex trader, prop firms can give you the following benefits:

  • No need to risk your own capital
  • Increase your exposure with higher amounts of capital
  • More profit as your trading position becomes substantial
  • Rational trading of capital excluding emotional decisions
  • Access to knowledge of trading community

FOREX FUNDING PROGRAM

HOW DOES A FOREX FUNDING PROGRAM WORK?

Benefit from the huge financial power of the Forex funding programs of a proprietary trading firm

Forex funding programs offer career-changing opportunities to a Forex trader. Use the power of a proprietary trading firm, while you contribute the power of your unique trading skills to grow the capital of the prop firm. You get a fair share of the profit, while benefitting from an array of advantages.
While many Forex funding programs require initial exams or demo account work, there are also programs that welcome both low-risk traders and aggressive traders to trade their capital immediately in the real market, generating profit for the trader and the prop firm.

What is a Forex funding program?

Proprietary trading firms offer several types of Forex funding programs. When joining a Forex funding program, a Forex trader receives access to capital which they trade in return for their trading skills. The prop trading firm offers a set of conditions with which the trader must work. The specific conditions differ from prop firm to prop firm, but generally involve a certain profit target and a stop loss level. A trader must also show a consistent method of trading to minimize risks, as data suggests that a more consistent trading strategy is the most successful strategy.
Most Forex funding programs welcome both low risk traders and aggressive traders. It goes without saying that parameters will differ depending on one’s trading style. That is why a trader must know their trading style well before applying to avoid deceptions or complications.

The power of a prop firm

Most prop firms have enormous financial power. They want their capital to grow and are looking for talented, successful traders who can trade their money efficiently. Instead of contracting Forex traders on their payroll, independent Forex traders tend to be more effective and successful when trading in their own style without supervision.

Obviously, when a FX trader receives a substantial amount of the realised profits, they will apply all their efforts to utilize the funds to the fullest. When a firm is working with independent contractors, it can be sure that their aim is to realize as much profit as possible. A independent trader has a different set of motivations than a payroll trader.

Of course, the main objective of a prop firm is profit, hence their objective for capital growth. That is why prop firms tend to be rather strict with the stop loss level. When a certain loss is realised, this can result in termination of the trading account. After all, prop firms are hardly philanthropic institutes, and they want to protect their capital while limiting risk.

Advantages of a Forex funding program

For a trader, a Forex funding program offers many different opportunities:

Access to substantial capital

With a fully funded Forex account, an FX trader receives access to substantial capital. Around 90% of independent Forex traders worldwide trade with a capital of less than £100,000. Of course, a capital of this size can result in substantial profits, depending on the skills of the trader, but often it remains a source of secondary income.

With the capital of a Forex funding program behind you, you can receive access to capital of £1,000,000 or more. It goes without saying that a capital of this size is far more advantageous, and profits are exponential. With a million pounds of capital, one can achieve a leverage of dozens of millions, and make trades that really make an impact on profit.

Not risking your own capital

Another great advantage of joining a Forex funding program is that you are not risking your own capital. This can significantly impact one’s trading confidence and style. You are an independent trader with the aim of maximizing your profit and can use the capital purely as a tool to do so. Risk and loss are viewed without emotion as an inevitable part of the process, compared to the stress of trading your own money.

This distance makes FX trading far more rational than emotional. When you are about to go all-in with a deal you believe in 100%, you will be more inclined to do so with other people’s money, than with your life savings. You do not have to think about what else you could have done with your own capital; you freely use the capital of the prop firm, even if it means going all-in.

Using the best tools

Of course, every trader uses a trading platform, but a trading platform is often chosen exclusively based on the broker of choice. When you become a part of a Forex funding program, you will likely receive access to state-of-the-art Forex trading platforms. This can already boost your trading career.

Trading platforms are the worldwide standard for Forex brokers, and give you access to the tools you need to become successful as a Forex trader. That success is even more likely when you receive a funded Forex account.

Competitive element

In a funded Forex program, you are not alone, but are part of a community with other FX traders. Often, networking events are organized so you get know your fellow traders, while comparing results on the leader board. Everyone wants to be on top of that list and pushes one another to earn the maximum from their capital.

This dynamic is absent when Forex trading independently. For many traders, a trading community is extra motivation to surpass your fellow traders. Often, prizes are involved as well, making victory that much sweeter.

Guidance and support

Not only can you learn from your fellow Forex traders, but most Forex trading programs also have an academy with resources to help you become a better trader. Trading courses, opportunities, workshops, and coaching will help you to improve your trading strategies and your chances for higher profits.

What about the profit share?

An important feature to consider is the profit share you receive from the Forex funding program. The most common profit share is a 50% split. You receive 50% for your trading skills, time, and efforts. The prop trading firm receives 50% for taking on the risk and providing the capital.

Many independent traders are reluctant to settle for ‘just’ a 50% profit share. The profitability of this proposition depends on one’s skills and the value of your own capital. When trading a capital of £1,000,000 is possible through a Forex funding program, and a trader typically has access to a capital of £100,000, 10 times more profit can be made by trading through the Forex funding program. When the trader keeps 50% of the profits, they still receive 5x more profit than when trading personal capital.

It is always better to share a large pie, than having to keep a small pie to yourself. The many other benefits of joining a Forex funding program make it an excellent opportunity for almost any trader.

How to join a Forex funding program?

For most Forex funding programs, an initial exam is required for qualification to join. When you have passed the test, you must begin by working on a demo account or an evaluation account, in which a real market situation is simulated. These two steps are built-in to minimize the firm’s risk of losing capital to incompetent traders.

Fortunately, there are also Forex funding programs that do not require a test or demo account. Here you can begin trading real money in the real market immediately. When you show consistent trading methods and are consistently reaching your profit targets, you can grow your trading capital to £1,000,000, after reaching a few milestones.

Advantages of a Forex funding program

As a Forex trader you benefit from the following by joining a Forex funding program:

  • Independent trading
  • Access to capital through a funded trading account
  • Not risking your own capital
  • Serious profit share
  • Being a part of a community

Do you want to join a Forex funding program? Forex Traders UK is a London-based proprietary trading firm that offers you the opportunity to join a funded Forex program. You can start FX trading with real money in the real market without initial exams or demo accounts. The Forex funding program of Forex Traders UK offers you a guaranteed capital of £1 million.

Forex Traders UK offers you the possibility to start with a capital of £10,000 to £70,000. Your capital quadruples when you hit your first milestone (10 to 25% profit margin, depending on your trading style). After the initial milestone, your capital is doubled every time you reach a subsequent milestone.

FOREX TRADING FOR BEGINNERS

FOREX TRADING FOR BEGINNERS

A 10-step Guide to the Basics of Forex Trading for Beginners.

1. Know the Forex market you are dealing with

The most direct form of Forex trading for beginners is one-on-one trading, also called Spot Forex Market. You make a trade and exchange currency at the same time. As a FX trader, you can also choose from the Forward Forex Market or the Futures Forex Market. In these markets, you set a deal for a specific date with a specified number of trades at a specific rate. When your predictions are correct on that date, you can buy the actual currency for a much better rate, which results in great profit.

2. Be aware of micro and macro-economic developments

Forex trading for beginners is not gambling, at least not for real Forex traders. Forex traders do not blindly close a deal without considering market fluctuations. Most of the time, economic patterns can be foreseen with analysis. As one would imagine, the rate of a currency is dependent on millions of factors, so the primary challenge is to consider the applicable economic developments in order to be able to make accurate predictions of rate fluctuations.

Many traders use the news as a source, but also announcements of central banks, forecasts of banks and other financial institutions, governmental actions, and developments in health and other macro-economic changes. All have an impact on currency rates.

3. Define your trading profile

Your trading profile defines what kind of trader you become. How much risk are you willing to take with Forex trading for beginners? This factor also depends on your capital. Rational, controlled trades are possible when you are trading with other people’s money with zero risk.

You should decide how much time and effort you want to put in Forex trading. Do you want to follow all economic developments, making a trade every 2-3 minutes, or do you prefer to make a thought-out investment that will pay off in a few months?

Will you focus on the three major currencies (USD, EUR and GBP) with major currency exchange pairs and minor currency exchange pairs? Or do you want to become an expert in regional currency exchange pairs or exotics currency exchange pairs?

4. Choose your Forex trading strategy

Your Forex trading for beginners strategy defines if you work with a one-minute chart or with a Weekly Chart (or anything in-between). The strategy of your trading has influence on what types of deals you seek. Are you looking for deals of a couple of minutes or deals that last a few months? Do you make one large deal or several simultaneous trading deals to spread the risk? And last but not least, what is the risk you are willing to take?

These factors determine if you are considered a Scalper (making numerous short termed deals of low value), a Day Trader (making and closing deals on a daily base, focusing on a limited amount of deals) or a Position Trader (making just a few deals per year and focusing on larger currency rate changes over a timespan of several months)

5. Use your leverage

Spot Forex trading is not too common in the Forex trading market, as most Forex traders prefer to use their leverage in order to make far larger trades based on a small initial payment to settle a trade. A typical initial payment to close a trading deal (also referred to as margin) is 2%. That means with a budget of £100,000, you could close a deal of no less than £5,000,000.

This gives you far more possibilities in terms of profits in terms of Forex trading for beginners. On the other hand, you should also realise that the risks also increase tremendously. You might pay just £100,000, but you are committed to a deal of £5,000,000, so risk management is essential as well, especially when you don’t have the funds to cover the amount of the entire deal.

6. Define your profit target

Each trader sets a certain profit margin for themselves. Typically, a trader has a goal profit they are looking to achieve from trading activities, often a set sum per month. To achieve this goal, a trader must make profitable deals. In Forex trading for beginners this is often referred to in terms of a percentage. You can set a profit percentage, for example 10% or 20% on your entire trading account.

When we look at the profitability of a deal, this is often expressed in terms of pips. A pip is the unit of measurement of the movement of a certain Forex pair in the fourth decimal place of a currency pair. If a GBP/EUR currency pair moves from £1.40000 to £1.40010, then it has moved 1 pip.

Your profit target in terms of pips depends primarily on your trading strategy. A scalper often aims for a profit of just 5 pips (£0.0001), a day trader often is content with a profit of 50 pips (£0.001), while a position trader is likely not satisfied when their profit is less than 500 pips (£0.01).

7. Limit your risk

Managing your risks and limiting your risks is necessary to not overplay your hand, especially when you are using your leverage to the maximum (for example on a ratio of 1:50). In order to control your risks in Forex trading for beginners, it is important to set a maximum acceptable loss for every deal, even in your day trading results.

Depending on your trading profile, you could set a loss cap of 1% to 5%. When this target is reached, you leave your position, taking your loss, and get a position in another, new trade. You can do the same with your daily results, to protect you when it is just not your day. In that way you protect your account and capital, and continue the next day with a fresh start.

8. Learn from your mistakes

Learning from your mistakes is crucial to optimize your own trading strategy in Forex trading for beginners. As most traders often trade in the same markets, certain patterns can be distinguished in time. In the beginning, it might be harder to find these patterns, but when you are in the game for a longer period of time, you will see the repetitive patterns most economic developments display.

Many traders have a log with all trades, decisions, doubts and patterns they have discovered. Analysing this log could be highly beneficial, revealing new patterns and leading to more effective trades.

9. Choose a Forex broker

A Forex broker is a financial institution that provides you, in Forex trading for beginners, with a platform to access the market of buying and selling currencies. Make a wise decision in choosing the right Forex broker for you.

A Forex broker, of course, charges you for their services. Some might charge a monthly fee, and most charge a certain commission per trade or managed capital. Look into all conditions of your broker to see what costs and limitations they have.

10. Trade with the right amount of capital

What sum of money can you earn with Forex trading for beginners? Considering that currencies do not fluctuate enormously, the answer is nickels and dimes. The only way to earn substantial sums of money is to trade with large amounts of capital, making large amounts of nickels and dimes a substantial income.

When you trade your own money, a way to grow your account is to leave all profits in your account. In this way your account can grow exponentially, but it will typically take a substantial amount of time to achieve this exponential growth.

With a solution like Forex Trading UK, you can achieve Accelerated Growth. At every milestone you reach, you double the capital of your account. In this way, every period, your account gets an enormous capital boost, doubling your exposure, and more than doubling your profits.

HOW TO TRADE FOREX

How to trade forex

Our top-3 Forex trading strategies explained on how to trade Forex successfully

Here are three fundamental and successful Forex trading strategies on how to trade Forex. Experiment and discover for yourself what Forex trading strategy fits you best. Each trader is different, and eventually develops their own approach, but when Forex trading is new for you, these three basic strategies will help you begin on your journey to becoming a pro! Discover your style of trading, and find out what trading strategy fits you best.

The best strategies on how to trade Forex revealed

There are numerous of strategies that can be utilized on how to trade Forex. In this article we describe the top-three fundamental Forex trading strategies you can apply to immediately start trading. More information about these strategies can be found in other articles, and the specifics of Forex trading in our beginner and advanced Forex courses.

Developing your own unique trading strategy

Every trader will develop their own approach to trading. Many begin with one of these three, simple Forex trading strategies, and develop them into a personalized strategy as they learn. Many traders combine two simple Forex trading strategies.

Forex traders typically use their own experience, both positive (leading to profits) and negative (leading to losses) to develop their personal strategy. The risk profile of a trade, gut feeling, and in some occasions even superstition, can influence a trader’s strategy.

All strategies are based on three important elements:

Length of trades
You should always select a time frame that suits your style. There is a huge difference trading based on a one-minute chart versus on a weekly chart. The main point to consider is how long you plan to stay in a single trade. Is this a matter of minutes or a matter of days, weeks, or even months?

When you aim to benefit from small market movements, you are probably becoming a so-called scalper, so you might focus on a much lower time frame, like a 1-minute chart. A day trader, on the other hand, is likely to use a 4-to-8-hour chart to identify profitable FX trading opportunities. Position traders typically look at the charts just once per week.

Number of trades
In addition to the length of trades, the number of trades also influences the type of strategy you are utilizing. How often would you like to open new trading positions? Just once per day, week or month, or do you like to open and close hundreds of trades every day?

As a scalper you are looking to open a much higher number of positions in comparison to another kind of trader. Day traders and position traders dedicate far more time to analyse market developments, and aim for long-term profits. Day traders and position traders focus on much larger positions compared to a scalper.

Amount of risk
You should find the right trading size that fits your FX trading profile. Generally speaking, the lower the number of trades you have, the larger the trade positions are. Larger positions also mean bigger risks, which you should sometimes be willing to accept (wisely). FX trading is all about managing risks in order to prevent enormous losses.

Therefore, you should always limit the risk of losing money from any single trade. This can be reflected as a maximum percentage that you are accepting the lose. When the loss is going over this percentage, you leave your position, no matter what. You take your loss, and move on, taking a new position.

Your risk sentiment defines the percentage of risk acceptance. This can be 1% for low-risk traders, and about 5% for aggressive traders.

How to trade Forex according to our best strategies

When you have considered trade length, number of trade positions, and size of trades, you can decide what type of strategy fits you best.

How to Trade Forex Strategy 1: Scalping

When you apply a Scalping strategy, you focus on small market movements. You open a large number of small-sized trades to achieve small profits from each trade. Of course, many small profits can lead to big profits in the end, but this kind of strategy is intense and time-consuming.

Many FX traders are scalpers and have limited liquidity, so they are looking for numerous small profits, taking advantage of the volatility of some currencies. These traders are often looking for markets in which prices are constantly fluctuating. The exotic currency exchange pairs are an example of high volatility where fast profits can be realized.

The huge profit off small trades as a scalper
Scalpers often focus on profits of 5 pips per trade (meaning a price change of £0.0005). For example, when you have traded £100.000, you can earn £50 on a single deal. When you have 10 positions in that situation, you might earn up to £500 in the very same moment.

A scalper may stay in a trade for just a few minutes, enabling them to reinvest the money in other trades quickly, one after another. This quick trading can increase the amount of trades by one hundredfold, producing a possible profit of £50,000 in just one single day. This, of course, only occurs in the unlikely situation in which every trade went exactly the way it was foreseen. However, the profitable quick trading example illustrates how small positions can lead to something enormous.

What does a scalper need?
Due to the large number of trades, and the relatively short time-frame of each trade, a scalper needs to dedicate all their time and attention to numerous trades simultaneously. They are typically looking at a one-minute chart, analysing positions, and discovering new opportunities. A scalper should work rationally and focus on facts, setting objective boundaries concerning when to leave a position.

How to Trade Forex Strategy 2: Day Trading

A day trader typically looks at the development of a currency by the hour, looking less to markets with high volatility. Most Forex traders are day traders, as they typically close all positions each day, opening new positions the next day, which results in a much less dynamic process compared to that of a scalper.

As the Forex market is open 24 hours per day, a day trader hardly leaves any positions open overnight. In 8 to 16 hours a lot of things can happen, so it would be far too risky to leave any position open. By closing off the day, a day trader can sleep well without having to worry about any open trade.

Decisions based on the news

Day traders typically base their decisions on the news, like world developments, interest rates, publication of macro economic numbers, predictions of banks, and elections. They focus on news that could have an impact on the market. Instead of taking profits of 5 pips only, a day trader typically looks at profits of 50 pips and above.

Substantially profitable

Having larger positions, a day trader might earn 50 pips (meaning a price change of £0.005). A trade position of £1.000.000 gives them a profit of £5.000 on a single day. As you can see, the typical, potential profits are far less than a scalper, but the time and effort that is needed is far less, and the risk is much lower.

Most day traders limit not only the risks of each position, but also cap their daily trading account risk. They define a percentage between 1 and 5 %, depending on their trading style, of what they are willing to lose on a single day. When the total loss is below that percentage, all positions are left. This is an excellent way of managing their risks, protecting both the account and capital.

How to Trade Forex Strategy 3: Position Trading

Position trading is a long-term strategy. This strategy is focused on fundamental economic developments and, therefore, looks to high-volatility markets less frequently, as these markets can rarely be predicted. Even minor fluctuations are not considered, as a position trader is a strategist and foresees a certain macro-economic development. Currency value can fluctuate on a certain day, rarely remaining linear, but a position trader will not leave their position.

More than other types of traders, a position trader analyses decisions of central banks, developments in politics, and other major economic factors. These factors often predict a trend on which the position trader is anticipating.

Very limited amount of yearly trades

It is important to realize that most successful position traders make only a few trades per year. They take a large position in a specific trade, which often gives them a profit of 500 pips per trade and up (meaning a price change of £0.05). Trading a capital of £1,000,000 leads to a profit of £50,000 per trade. Making 4 successful trades per year, you could get an annual income of £200,000 with a capital of just £1,000,000.

Only for patient traders

Patience is one of the main characteristics of a position trader. Of course, one should also have excellent analytical skills to foresee certain patterns due to recent economic developments. Position traders often exclusively analyse weekly charts, as daily and hourly developments do not influence the big picture.

What does the trading process look like?

Trading with Forex Traders UK is simple. We have some rules and targets, and when you comply with them, everything will go smoothly and you will automatically grow in our leader board. Our trading process consists of 7 steps:

  1. Trading Budget
We establish a trading account for you through our broker, and you receive immediate funding. This is 25% of the sum you chose when you enrol. When, for example, you enrol as an Expert for a budget of £40,000, you immediately get a sum of £10,000 at your disposal (instant funding).
  1. Profit Target
We look at your profit target, which depends on your trading style. When you are a low-risk trader, we demand a profit target of 10%. We appreciate aggressive traders as well, and because of the higher risk, we also demand a higher profit target of 25%. Based on a budget of £40,000, this means as a low-risk trader has a profit target of £1,000, and for a high-risk trader it is £2,500.

This profit target is the sum of all trades, both realized and unrealized, including swap charges and commissions. Once the profit target is hit, you will receive access to the remaining 75% of your trading budget. When you hit your profit target again, you are requested to close all running trades, and report to us, in order to get you to the next funding level.

  1. Stop Out Level
Losses can occur at a certain level, we understand that. But we have to put a stop out level on it, in order to minimize risks. Once the FX trading account equity value is below this level, the fund will close all running trades automatically.

This stop out level is fixed, and is set at each funding level. At a budget of £40,000 this means you can lose up to £500, meaning that your stop out level is £9,500, for both low risk traders and aggressive FX traders.

  1. Account Leverage
With leverage you use a small sum of capital to gain a much larger exposure. In this way, it is possible to take larger trading positions, giving you extra possibilities. For aggressive FX traders, the maximum leverage is set at a ratio of 1:30, and low risk FX traders experience a maximum leverage ratio of 1:10.

Basically, this means that as a starter, you are allowed to make trades of up to £400,000 with your £40,000 budget as a low-risk trader, and £1,200,000 as a high-risk trader.

  1. Maximum Stop Loss
When you have successfully started trading, we both want to prevent any earnings that will be lost. Therefore, a maximum stop loss applies to certain programs. This maximum stop loss does not apply for aggressive traders, but low risk traders have a maximum stoploss of 1,5%. So, when you are trading £40,000, you can loose up to £600.
  1. Maximum Time Limit
As we would like to see movement, and we want you to grow to higher tiers, resulting in larger investments and earnings, we need to maximize the time that is permitted to reach a certain profit target level. The maximum time only applies in the first level of the funding, and is set on 90 days. In future funding levels, there is no time limit.
  1. Next Funding Level
When you reach your profit level, you will receive a capital of four times greater than your initial capital. Therefore, you will grow from a £40,000 account to a £160,000 account. For every next step, the upscaling growth is twice of the last initial capital.

At Forex Traders UK, every account has a guaranteed maximum trading capital of £1,000,000. Our scaling plan allows our top-performing traders to grow. Having that said, a simple calculation shows that you can grow from a £40,000 account to a £1,000,000 in just 8 tiers, when you just show a constant profit of at least 10-30%. It’s as simple as that!

What is Forex trading all about?

Forex trading is somewhat different from other types of trading. FX trading takes places between two individual traders directly. There are no centralized markets like the stock exchange, so the Forex market is essentially run by an international network of banks and other financial institutions. FX trading takes place all around the world, in London, New York, Sydney and Tokyo. Forex trading is a 24-hour trading business; it simply does not stop.

Trading derivatives

Similar to other trading markets, most FX traders do not actually buy or sell currencies. They predict exchange rate changes and anticipate to that. Trading derivatives is the most popular way to trade as it allows you to speculate on a trading movement without actually owning a currency.

Different types of Forex markets

There is no one single global Forex market, but there are several types of FX-markets. The most common are Spot Forex Market, Forward Forex Market, and Futures Forex Market.

Spot Forex Market

Spot Forex Market is all about the physical exchange of two currencies (the so-called currency pair). The exchange is done at the exact same “spot” where the trade is done. This is the most direct form of FX trading.

Forward Forex Market

In the Forward Forex Market, a customizable contract is agreed upon, to buy or sell a certain amount of currency at a specified currency exchange rate, at a set date in the future. In this way you can speculate on an exchange rate changing in the future, giving you the obligation to buy or to sell on the agreed conditions. In this way, you don’t need to actually buy the currency at the actual trading moment, but you will have to pay an initial deposit (called a margin) for this transaction.

Futures Forex Market

The Futures Forex Mark is a standardized agreement to buy or sell a certain amount of currency at a specific price, at a specific date in the future. Most of the times, these transactions happen through central markets. This currency exchange contract does not give you the right to buy or sell, but it is a binding obligation to buy or sell. But again, the trading date and exchange date are not the same, just like the Forward Forex Market.

Four types of Forex exchange pairs

What is Forex trading all about? Forex trading means exchanging one currency for another currency, so essentially you will always be trading a currency pair. Put simply, there are only two currencies involved with every trade.

Each international currency is coded with a unique three-letter-abbreviation. Typically, the code consists of a letter combination of the first letters of the country and the currency name. Obviously, the three most widely used currencies in the world are also the most traded, and form the three most common pairs (the order does not make any difference for the trade itself):

  • British Pound / Euro (GBP / EUR)
  • British Pound / US Dollar (GBP / USD)
  • Euro / US Dollar (EUR / USD)

Most banks and financial institutions split currency exchange pairs into one of the categories mentioned below, in order to better structure the trades. There are around 180 currencies all over the world, resulting in over 15,000 currency pairs. Therefore, this structure is very much needed. Research shows that there are about 70 currency pairs that are most commonly traded by FX traders. So, what is Forex trading in terms of currency pairs?

1.    Major currency exchange pairs

There are in total seven currencies worldwide that cover around 80% of the global Forex Trading Market. Besides the above-mentioned British Pound (GBP), Euro (EUR) and United States Dollar (USD), the remaining top-7 include the Australian Dollar (AUD), the Swiss Franc (CHF), the Japanese Yen (JPY) and the New Zealand Dollar (NZD).

All major pairs involve the US Dollar in combination with the top 7 major currencies, including the Canadian Dollar (CAD). The 7 major pairs are:

  • US Dollar / British Pound (USD / GBP), also known as the “Cable”
  • US Dollar / Euro (USD / EUR), which is named “Fiber”
  • US Dollar / Japanese Yen (USD / JPY), referred to as “Ninja”
  • US Dollar / Swiss Franc (USD / CHF), known as “Swissy”
  • US Dollar / Australian Dollar (USD / AUD), named “Aussie”
  • US Dollar / New Zealand Dollar (USD / NZD), called the “Kiwi”
  • US Dollar / Canadian Dollar (USD / CAD), also referred to as “Loonie”

2.    Minor currency exchange pairs

The minor pairs regarding currency exchange are less frequently traded compared to the major pairs. They often feature the 7 major currencies traded against each other.

These minor pairs are also often referred to as “crosses,” or “cross pairs.” They are essentially the most important currency pairs that don’t include the US Dollar. Most currencies were previously fixed to the US Dollar, and in order to be exchanged, they first had to be exchanged to the US Dollar. When the crosses were introduced, traders became able to exchange other currencies directly, without having to exchange them to the US Dollar first.

The 7 minor currency pairs are:

  • Euro / British Pound (EUR / GBP), also known as the “Chunnel”
  • Euro / Japanese Yen (EUR / JPY), with the nick name “Euppy”
  • British Pound / Japanese Yen (GBP / JPY), known as “Guppy”
  • British Pound / Canadian Dollar (GBP / CAD)
  • Swiss Franc / Japanese Yen (CHF / JPY)
  • Euro / Australian Dollar (EUR / AUD)
  • New Zealand Dollar / Japanese Yen (NZD / JPY)

3.    Regional currency exchange pairs

Regional pairs are classified by a region. Examples of typical regions are Australasia, with common regional pairs Australian Dollar / New Zealand Dollar (AUD / NZD) and Australian Dollar / Singapore Dollar (AUD / SGD), or Scandinavia, with common pairs as Euro / Norwegian Krone (EUR / NOK) and Euro / Danish Krone (EUR / DKK).

4.    Exotics currency exchange pairs

Exotic pairs are currency trades of a major currency against the currency of an emerging country, such as Poland, Mexico or Brazil. Typical exotic pairs are US Dollar / Polish Zloty (USD / PLN), British Pound / Mexican Peso (GBP / MXN), or Euro / Brazilian Real (EUR / BRL).

How does the Forex Price Work?

The first currency in a currency pair is called the Base Currency, while the second currency of the currency pair is the Quote Currency. Currency rate or price of a Forex pair is how much one unit of the base currency is worth in terms of the quote currency. When, for example, the GBP / USD price is set at 1.40, this means that 1 British Pound is worth 1.40 US Dollars.

If the British Pound rises compared to the US Dollar, this means that the pair’s price will increase (for example, to a rate of 1.50). When the currency rate of the British Pound decreases, it means the pair’s price will go down as well (for example, to a rate of 1.30).

This is, then, the essence of Forex trading. When you think that the base currency is likely to strengthen against the quote currency, you can buy the pair, an action which is referred to as “going long.” On the contrary, when you thing the rate is going to fall, it is time to sell the pair, referred to as “going short.”

How do you earn money with Forex trading?

What is Forex Trading without earning money? You research everything about the currencies which you are trading, taking into account all of the price movements and economic developments which might influence the exchange rate of a currency. However, you will obviously need to trade large sums in order to earn substantial amounts of money. Changes in currency rates can often be very subtle, but when you move large amounts of money, this can result in huge earnings with Forex trading.

Creating FX leverage

When you are Forex Trading, the margin of your deals is essential. By calculating your margin, also known as your “initial deposit,” you pay a relatively small sum in order to close a deal. Your margin is often expressed as a percentage of your FX position.

For example, when you make a GBP / USD trade, you might need an initial deposit of 2% of the total value of the position. This means that when you want to make a trade of £10,000, you will have to initially deposit a sum of £200 to close the deal.

Advantages and risks of Forex trading

For example, when you make a GBP / USD trade, you might need an initial deposit of 2% of the total value of the position. This means that when you want to make a trade of £10,000, you will have to initially deposit a sum of £200 to close the deal.

However,
you should be aware that this leverage also brings the risk of amplified
losses. In fact, a deal is made for the entire amount. That could mean that you
have an obligation to buy or sell the deal in its entirety. This occurs whether
the deal goes in the direction you expected or the exact opposite. With this
kind of leveraged trading, it is therefore extremely important to manage your
risks.

Is Forex trading safer than stocks?

What is Forex trading without risk? The risk of Forex trading greatly depends on your trading profile. What goals do you set, what is your trading style, and what is your risk-tolerance? With Forex trading, more leverage is involved, and trades are far less regulated in comparison to the stock market. This makes this market incredibly lucrative, however, on the other hand, it also makes it much riskier. Therefore, this market is all about managing your risks wisely in order to maximize your profits.
