READING FUNDEMENTAL FOREX MOVEMENTS

Economic growth

In most cases when a country’s economy is strong, the central banks of that nation will often raise interest rates to keep inflation at bay. The resulting increase in interest rates inevitably produces more movement on financial markets and with this influx comes an increase in demand for currency. This leads to rapidly increasing exchange rates like when people rush out to buy petrol during shortage warnings. Whether its due fear or excitement (or both), nobody knows how long these runs last but by looking at the prior economic growth data at hand we can see market trends and how it might directly impact the instruments that we trade.

Interest rates

The process of currency buying, and selling is all about knowing the difference between what the countries exchange rate is and the change from the last period. You can take advantage by investing in high-interest rate currencies from countries with low rates, or vice versa if your interest lies elsewhere – just be aware that this will affect not only foreign exchange markets but also other assets and commodities depending on how you trade them.

For example, investors may reasonably predict that the Bank of England or FED might drop interest rates to encourage growth of an economy. As a result, an anticipated action could cause depreciation in a country’s currency and lead investors towards investments with higher yields instead – driving up demand for assets from said nation’s economy which would ultimately create employment opportunities within it.

Investors will always look at what is going on outside their own borders before making decisions about investing so they should follow suit by paying attention when other countries’ central banks meet publicly to announce plans related to global affects that might have an impact on their trades.

When the perceived value of a country’s currency drops, demand for that nation’s exports will decrease and investors may liquidate their US dollar investments in favour of higher paying yields.

The best way to take advantage of this depreciation would be looking at EUR/USD for example buying Euros BEFORE it happened. This will allow you, with the Euro-currency jumping against your country’s currency – buy more expensively than others so their prices go down relative too them when they eventually rise again.

But let’s say you predict that interest rate will not fall as poor employment figures are announced in this situation. On the day everyone learns about this development, those people who acted believing there would be a drop in currency now buy back their foreign exchange and supply gets tight- creating an opportunity for profit if they were wise enough to have predicted correctly what banks might do with their policies! If your forecasts paid off by being able to purchase more of your initial currency unit at higher rates versus others around world you would have made greater margin on your trade.

Trade flow

Trade and capital flows will affect the exchange rate of a foreign currency. Traders are prone to read a worsening trade balance as a sign on which countries’ currencies experience depreciation, while it is more likely that they appreciate if this imbalance has been favourable.

The Balance of Trade are of interest to a currency trader because demand and import are connected. The stronger an economy’s exports, the greater need for that country’s domestic product; thus, increasing prices alongside production levels as manufacturers strive to meet increased demands from overseas clients or buyers who have been purchasing more due them buying up some extra stock on international markets. Currency traders should be aware of the changing balance between countries, and how that will affect currencies which they trade.

Money exchanges

When capital flows exceed the investments that are leaving a country for foreign sources, there will be an increase in demand for more of its currency. An investor must convert his money into what is used domestically in order to fulfil their investment.

When there is a negative capital flow, investors will sell their local currency to buy up another. This means that it becomes more valuable because people want what they’re giving away.

The UK is one of the countries with a positive capital flow right now. This means that their currency, which sits at an exchange rate around 1 pound = $1.12 USD or more (depending on who you ask), has maintained its value well due to these flows coming into our economy and putting pressure on prices for goods – making them less affordable than they would otherwise be without foreign investment.

With these simple pointers, you can see how the market movement affects profitability of your trades. So it might be a profitable move to explore and stay in tune with what’s happening.

HOW LONG TO BECOME PROFITABLE

HOW LONG TO BECOME PROFITABLE?

Being a profitable Forex trader is desired by so many, but it is not easy to become one. Forecasting how long your journey will be depends on your individual circumstances.

https://youtu.be/iZBWj5HxvgA

Being a profitable forex trader is desired by so many, but it is not easy to become one. Forecasting how long your journey will be, depends on your individual circumstances that exist with you and what stage of life they affect.

For example: some Forex traders might have a shorter period because others can get them much faster than if there was no urgency or time pressure associated with their work, while still other aspects may take longer when considering family commitments which could slow down progress significantly.

It brings out some interesting points related to becoming Forex trader including just being aware enough, so trading profitably doesn’t seem overwhelming. Let’s break some of the different trading aspects down and look at the time it could take you and how to speed your career up.

Importance of mindset

Your mindset plays an important role in determining if you would become a successful and profitable Forex trader. There are many Forex traders who think it’s easy and expect every trade to be a profitable one. This is incorrect because of the volatility of the currency markets. This leads some Forex traders into frustration or even worse: losing more than what was gained originally!

Your mental approach towards your Forex  trading decisions will have just as big impact on whether those choices turn out well later down the line. So, make sure that any decision-making processes align with your plan before moving forward. A big lesson of highly experienced Forex traders is taking 10 minutes before finalising a trading decision. Any decisions that are made quickly within 5 minutes usually have a negative impact on overall results, and by taking time to fully break down each decision within your mindset is key to long term profitability.

Strategy and experience

One of the most important factors to consider when picking a trading strategy is what best suits you and your lifestyle. Remember, there isn’t one-size fits all solution in the Forex market. Know whether it’s appropriate time for applying specific strategies as well! Whatever decision that’s made, whether sticking with something old like scalping or trying trending markets by following an indicator like MACD.

Be consistent because consistency will lead people towards success, no matter where they start off at. Even if their original goal was just getting started and seeing where it takes them. Make sure you take in all the experience through a every trade within a large sample of Forex trades.

Capital and resource

When it comes to trading, consistency is important but not the only factor. Your capital investments also play a significant role in determining success or failure. Imagine this: one month you’re able get an excellent return on all your trades with no problems at hand. Yet another finds that £100 trading account just won’t cut it. That’s where a prop firm like Forex Traders UK can come into help with leveraging your career for larger returns.

The question of how long it takes to learn Forex trading is always a difficult one, because there are no two traders who have the same work ethic or condition. One thing that can help beginners in their journey on the foreign exchange markets might be education and mentorship; this will teach them what they need for success by providing proper guidance with experience from someone more knowledgeable than themselves- while not being afraid of mistakes made along the way either!

CHALLENGES OF TRADING FROM HOME

CHALLENGES OF TRADING FROM HOME

Nowadays, trading can be done from your own home. You don’t even need to leave for an office or wait around on hold with complicated technical issues because you have access 24/5 to trade from home!

The internet has turned the world of finance upside down. Now it is possible for just anyone with an internet connection to research and being Forex trading from home.

Trading definitely was different before, with people lining up on Wall Street. Meeting fellow traders and exchanging information was like an old school-like trading floor environment.

Nowadays, you can open a trading account online with just a small deposit, and maybe some days of waiting. This has led to more people turning their side job into full time trading from home. Especially for Forex traders who are looking at how lucrative it is in comparison to other trading markets out there right now. Even though they know that down the line things might change again!

Nowadays Forex trading can be done on your own terms through technology like smartphones which will allow us all access with just minutes wait times needed when signing up; this includes joining currency exchanges.

Realizing the differences

Forex trading from home is often the best way to trade. However, it is important to know that there some differences compared to trader from an office. For starters your surroundings will drastically affect how well (or poorly) things go with this strategy–making them crucial considerations before getting started.

As many people who work from home might guess by now: home trading works better if done alongside other distractions like children or pets. Try setting up shop near anything which can be used as entertainment since then both hands may feel distracted during down moments of frustration when trying unsuccessfully figure out why Candle Sticks just refuse to plummet any lower than last week.

Finding working space

You can’t become a successful Forex trader if you don’t have the right tools. A home office is one of them. It’s where all your Forex trading materials should be, and it needs to feel like an extension of yourself so that you hold the best midframe when making important decisions.

Before you start Forex trading, it’s important that the trading conditions are perfect. Remembering this will help ensure your success by making sure all of your bases are covered in terms of analysing markets and working out various aspects like charts or data analysis – without distractions from other people around or possible family distractions.

First, you need a computer and preferably some monitors. Your Wi-Fi connection should be stable enough for trading purposes, if not then get new cables or else risk crashing your system during an important trade! A wide desk will make it easier to spread out all of those papers while keeping everything neatly organized too.

Focus on the Forex market

The main difference of traditional trading from an office and trading from home is that you have far less distractions. When working in an environment with no external factors, it becomes much easier to focus on what really matters–the job at hand.

At home, there are several distractions everywhere. You could be tempted to watch an episode of your Netflix series or someone could ask you to do something for just a few minutes. These things affect your focus and make it hard to trade. But having a career in Forex trading in a modus that suits you well, can be very rewarding in terms of personal time. Having said that, achieving that work life balance can be a difficult task.

You can’t be profitable if you don’t try. Taking time out of your day for some serious trades is key to success in this business, so distractions needn’t get in the way of decision making.

To get the most out of your trading, establish a schedule. Find what session works best for you and stick to it! When choosing which day of the week is going be right before or after big events like earnings reports or economic data announcements (eg GDP), make sure that this isn’t too close together because then there’s no time between sessions in order allow yourself some much-needed rest when necessary–even if just taking five minutes at each end will help tremendously.

Trading time zones and environments

For those Forex traders who have a full-time job, it can be difficult to find time where they are able and free from distraction. For some people this means Forex trading during business hours which may not work well.

You should plan if you need to wake up hours earlier before work or do all these after-hours. You can set your trades and make analysis, but it will take more time than just getting in early with a premeditated trade.

A professional trading environment can be difficult to establish at home, but it’s possible. There are many strategies that one could follow for this type of setting including establishing their own office space and cultivating an atmosphere conducive towards successful trades in order to essentially not let distractions get in the way.

KEEPING YOUR FOREX CHARTS CLEAN

KEEPING YOUR FOREX CHARTS CLEAN

A big killer in forex trading is trying to be the master of all indictors, at the same time. Control your Forex chart hygiene instead.

When you’re an aspiring Forex trader, mistakes are inevitable. In fact, there’s a good chance that while getting to the top of your game some errors will come along with it! But don’t worry- this is all part of learning how things work properly.

Trading mistakes will eventually lead to making better decisions next time around. The best way for beginning Forex traders can be a difficult thing at first. Just keep on practicing until we understand what works for us individually.

When new traders enter the Forex market, they may throw on all indicators they see in their trading platform. Often they research very little about a lot of systems thinking it may give them an edge or help them make a quick route to profit. But as you spend more and more time in the Forex market learning from some of the top Forex traders, you will understand in many Forex trading concepts, less is more.

Select few indicators

Trading indicators can be helpful when adding confirmation to a trade setup or direction. But knowing how many to add may create mess and confusion for some Forex traders. Some online Forex traders with trading content even go as far to say many indicators can work together to build strength in a trading setup.

We have tried and tested almost all indicators under the sun. We have found simple moving averages to be effective and using different line values can complement each other when it comes to trend directions and crossovers or early signs of trend changes. But unfortunately, we haven’t had much look trying to get RSI to work with other oversold and overbought indictors.

Adding too many of these indicators can also lead to the Forex trader taking focus away from the price action at hand. If all you can see is indicators, then you will be unable to see the overall direction and simple price movements. Just having a couple of indicators sitting behind everything and working as a final confluence right before the trade judgement is made, is a better approach to trading with any indicator.

Chart hygiene

Depending on who you’ve come across online and in the trading world, few Forex traders talk about the topic of charting cleanliness and hygiene. It is an amusing concept, but it is quite inspirational to see some Forex traders not apply very much in the way of tools to a chart and correctly identify a 6-month movement rewarding 1000+ pips.

Whilst there are many different trading systems and styles, almost all of them could benefit from a more simple and clean approach when it comes to technical analysis. If your Forex charts are messy at them moment, then consider cleaning them and removing any unnecessary indicators or maybe ones you don’t use as much. Then document the difference and see the clarity.

Journal and review

Whilst we believe very few Forex traders are journaling their work, the ones who do are many steps ahead of the game. If you don’t take anything but bad emotion from your losing trades, you are simply leaving money on the table. When managing a prop trading account, this can be the professional difference between excelling or losing the account with a termination.

4 TRADING MISTAKES FROM FAILED ACCOUNTS

4 TRADING MISTAKES FROM FAILED FOREX TRADING ACCOUNTS

Forex trading experts are giving their insights on common errors Forex traders make when trading on a prop account.

We have seen first-hand some of the mistakes and traps that lead to Forex traders blowing a Forex trading account of a prop firm. Hopefully we can share some insights of these to help you improve someway. After all, it is in our best interest for all our Forex traders to succeed and make money.

So, lets break down and take a look at how a Forex trader can learn from mistakes and build upon trading success. It all requires knowledge and time, but by tweaking your formula you can better your chances with a Forex trading account.

Advanced statistics

The advanced statistics is a useful and powerful tool for our prop traders, having knowledge on what to look for is crucial. Here if we look at this unfortunately terminated trading account, we can see some things are apparent.

The profit factor is far below 1 and sits at just 0.2. This is one of the lowest profit factors we have seen over a sample size of this amount of trades. The average profits sit at £17.76 whilst the average loss is £69.43 over just 16 trades.

The largest loss has also had devastating effects at £294.15. This account started out at £10,000, so this loss on one trade is very significant considering the 5% drawdown rule in place. When Forex traders plan and allocate risk, they should think of these possibilities and always use appropriate risk so that their Forex trading account won’t be in jeopardy.

Due to the combined negative risk to reward ratio and losing trade total, this Forex trader does have a negative expectancy which is not a good thing long term. This trader should look at the current win rate of 43.75% and manage both the risk to reward and risk per position if they want to increase profitability. It is possible to be a profitable Forex trader and have a win rate less than 50%, but the other factors need to be appropriately addressed.

Setting all trading levels

Through all our account reviews, we are still finding many novice Forex traders fail to set both stop losses and take profits. All of the long-term winning Forex traders we have, all set both stop losses and take profit levels. Without them, then a Forex trader has high chances of failure at some point.

They should be used a gospel along any trading strategy. And they complement each other. Without stop losses you have no risk, and without take profits you have no destination for reward. No end points. Just allowing the market to control you Forex trading account. By making sure and staying strict with these levels, you can control your prop trading account yourself.

Too many instruments

As we have said before, being the master of a couple of instruments doesn’t mean you are missing out on opportunities, but rather improving your potential for more consistent growth. Rather than focus on the 10-15 range of symbols, attempting to catch every breakout under the sun, pick 1-3 that has given you best success thus far and run with them.

This will allow you to home in on less fundamental news coverage as you will be looking at announcements for only select currencies. It will also lead to more discipline in other areas. Such as more refined and clear cut technical analysis.

Trading Drawdowns

THE REALITY OF FOREX TRADING DRAWDOWNS

Drawdowns are a reality of every Forex trader. They can happen at any time, and you must understand how to deal with drawdowns as they come up in your trading system without getting too discouraged.

The idea of drawdown is simple and has been around for a long time. It’s only recently that we’re seeing this trend in everything from Forex trading and Crypto trading to stock market analysis. The idea is simple: if an asset loses value over time then its price will eventually hit zero. Drawdown accounts for the losing result and it’s usually measured as a Forex trading rule in a trading prop firm.

Drawdowns are the difference between high points and low points. They can be broken down into absolute, relative or maximum drawdown depending on what you want to measure risk against for your investments.

Either one single day’s worth of losses (Daily Drawdown), monthly average deviations from investment value over time measured in percentage terms up until now. We can then look at future returns expectations using statistical methods known as Normal Probability Plots or vice versa.

If we’re looking at how much has changed since our last calculation date without taking into consideration any return forecasted yet, then there is also Maximum Daily Loss which takes everything out today so it tells us only about tomorrow’s market movements…

Absolute drawdown

What is the Absolute Drawdown? The absolute drawdown represents how much you lost concerning your initial deposit. Forex traders use this term when they want to calculate what percentage of their investment went below a certain point. Like zero or minimal equity for example- it’s simple math!

The Forex trading formula we will be using has two parts: 1) Initial Deposit and 2) Minimal Equity, which can then give us an idea on whether one was profitable based on these numbers.

For example, if you had £100,000 and an absolute drawdown limit of 20%, the lowest value the equity could go is £80,000. No matter how much profit there is, the equity on the trading account must not go below the £80,000 level.

Absolute drawdown shows the absolute risk on a Forex trading account. It shows the size of the loss and compares it with the current profit or loss. An Absolute Drawdown of £0 means you have no risk at all.

Overall, we use an absolute drawdown that works best as a stop out bar. The above example shows the dashboard example of the absolute drawdown in relation to a live Forex trading account.

Maximum drawdown

Relative and daily drawdown

The way we calculated the Relative Drawdown is by dividing our Maximum Loss with highest point on account (equity). Then multiplying that number and converting it into a percentage which gives us an idea about how much more volatile your investments will be in the long run.

Relative drawdown is the less commonly used as you’ll find prop firms use mostly maximum drawdown mixed with a profit factor in their Forex trading account metrics.

Here at Forex Traders UK we don’t operate with a daily drawdown rule. However, many other prop firms require you to maintain a maximum daily loss. This means you need to manage the amount of loss your account takes on within a one-day period. If it is 2% and you begin your day at £10,000, then you cannot lose more than 2% in one day for this example.

INTRADAY TRADING MISTAKES

INTRADAY TRADING MISTAKES

Day trading has grown popular recently since it enables traders to execute shorter-term trades in Forex.

https://youtu.be/wfbgTBLHiFc

Intraday trading has been popular in recent years due to the ability to execute shorter-term trades. However, this can be difficult in day-to-day Forex trading and requires skilful handling regardless of the size of the trade, especially when reckless behaviour is involved.

More Forex trades equals more profit

With an increasing number of Forex trades being opened during the day, novice Forex traders are prone to make emotional decisions that jeopardize their capital. While small profit pips may not seem like much when trading intraday, they compound to large fortunes over time if the Forex trader avoids overtrading.

A Forex trader who is not careful enough and engages in such behavior will undoubtedly lose money in the long term. Because this “assembly line” strategy has never worked previously, it’s only a matter of time until you learn your lesson about opening too many positions in the direction you believe the Forex market will trend.

Only Forex trading fundamentals

Those who have prudently managed their capital during times of transition will almost always come out ahead, regardless of economic setbacks or opportunities elsewhere. However, the majority of individuals rely exclusively on news sources such as Bloomberg, never considering other factors that might affect their trades.

Numerous Forex traders have focused on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate. Oftentimes, Forex traders who understand interest rates will have no difficulty cracking the markets the next day. They believed that if it was lowered, they would make a killing off of their dollar investments. However, this does not always work out as planned because there are so many other variables involved in effectively completing these types of trades.

The Forex market is always unpredictable. Anyone who believes they can forecast its behavior is mistaken. If you overlook this fact, your investment might be disastrously wrong if all else fails. It is also important to monitor macroeconomic indicators. Without them, we would have no way of knowing whether our predictions were impacted by their release coinciding with important economic changes that may affect the economy’s direction.

Overconfidence and poor management

When novice Forex traders initially enter the market, it is not unusual for them to have unrealistic expectations. They are often confident that their hard work will be rewarded with success, only to find themselves frustrated by circumstances beyond anyone’s control or understanding, l ike currency rates fluctuating daily.

Forex trading may be daunting for any trader, but it becomes even more challenging when the trader forgets how the market can work against them. Additionally, intraday traders must consider how quickly things change and adapt accordingly. For instance, by utilizing technical indicators to remain on top trade terminals or by otherwise obtaining up-to-date information at any time.

Intraday traders must exercise extreme caution and precision with their strategies, as tickers on these short time frames can produce misleading indications. Intraday traders with experience understand that pure noise can never generate profit.

If you want to succeed in Forex trading, your level of risk must match the amount being risked. If not, you should not be shocked if something goes wrong!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that mistakes are bad. They are a significant aspect of trading and may result in some spectacular profits if you learn from them.
